Tailboard vs EHS Insight.
EHS Insight is a full environmental, health and safety platform for safety teams running programs across sites. Tailboard is the safety paperwork a small contractor gets asked for, run by the owner or a foreman. Different buyers, mostly.
Side by side
EHS Insight's column comes from their own pricing and product pages.
| EHS Insight | Tailboard | |
|---|---|---|
| What it costs | From $5,000 a year for small and medium businesses; enterprise by quote | $29, $89 or $199 a month, on the page |
| What sets the price | The number of employees, and which of 32 modules you take | Office accounts: 2, 6 or 15. Crew who only sign are free and never count |
| Term | A year at a time, at least | Monthly or yearly |
| Trying it | A free trial | 14 days (30 on yearly), nothing charged until it ends |
| No signal | A mobile app that works fully offline | A signature holds through a weak signal; the rest needs a connection |
| The crew's side | Not described on the pages we read | Over 250 talks in English and Spanish, each citing its rule, signed on the crew's own phones |
| Proving a record wasn't edited | Not described publicly | Sealed when filed. Anyone can check the code, no account |
| Everything else in safety | Observations, incidents and root cause, corrective actions, audits, training, risk, dashboards, across facilities | JSAs, incidents and the injury log, corrective actions and a written program on Company and Fleet; inspections, equipment and DOT pre-trips on Fleet |
Why small is the point.
EHS Insight says more than 1,500 EHS teams use it. We're a small startup in Kennewick, built for outfits that don't have an EHS team. Here's what that buys you.
The price fits a crew of eight
A whole year of Fleet, the top tier, is $2,029. Company is $89 a month. There's no annual minimum and no module list to price out.
Your crew never lands on the bill
Forty people can sign on two office accounts. Hiring for the season doesn't change what you pay.
The paperwork you actually get asked for
The weekly talk with every name and signature, the JSA, a written program named for your state, and the packet a GC asks for in a prequal.
You're running by Monday
Pick a talk, send the link, and the crew signs on their own phones. Nothing to install, no accounts for the crew, no implementation project.
When EHS Insight is the better buy.
They're ahead of us in real ways. If any of these is you, go and talk to them.
Your crews work where there's no signal
Their app works fully offline and catches up later. Ours needs a connection for everything but a signature in progress.
You have a safety team and several sites
Audits, risk, training and dashboards across facilities are what their 32 modules are for. We're built for one owner and a handful of crews.
You need environmental as well as safety
EHS covers the environmental side too. Tailboard is safety only.
You want a long track record
They have a large customer base behind them. We launched in September 2026.
And if you're unsure.
A month at a time is the longest we hold you.
You're never trapped
On Company and Fleet, every sealed record is emailed to whoever can read records the moment it is filed, so the proof lives in your inbox, not only on our servers. The seal code stays checkable by anyone, with no account. Cancel and you keep read access for 90 days.
And you can test it with a real crew
Run a real meeting in the first fourteen days (thirty on a yearly plan), then decide. You'll know inside a week whether it fits how you work.
Read a full talk before you decide.
One of ours is on the home page, with nothing held back.
