Tailboard vs SiteDocs.
SiteDocs is a safety compliance platform, part of the Nemetschek group, built for safety directors and risk managers at companies "from startups to multinational corporations". Tailboard is the safety paperwork for a small contractor, finished when the crew signs. The question is whether you have a safety department, or you are the safety department.
Different sizes of tool.
These are SiteDocs' own product headings, from their home page. Forms, corrective actions, orientations and certifications overlap with ours. Contractor management, a workflow studio and analytics are a bigger company's problems.
What SiteDocs lists
Digital Forms, Contractor Management, Incident Management, Corrective Actions, Hazard Management, Safety Monitor, Equipment Management, Worker Orientation, Certification Management, SafeTrades, Automations & Integrations, Analytics & Reporting, Inspection Management and a Workflow Studio. Forms and toolbox talks can be scheduled to repeat, and signed documents can be read offline.
What Tailboard does
Toolbox talks in English and Spanish, signed on any phone and sealed when filed. Then the paperwork around them: job safety analyses, inspections, incidents and the injury log, corrective actions, equipment and pre-trips, documents, certifications, and the packet a general contractor asks for. For small contractors, and only them.
Side by side
SiteDocs' column comes from their own home, features, pricing and SafeTrades pages, read in October 2026.
| SiteDocs | Tailboard | |
|---|---|---|
| What it costs | An annual subscription sized to the company. No figure on the page: "an initial call is required to provide a custom price quote" | $29, $89 or $199 a month for the company, on the page |
| How you start | Book a demo, get a quote. No trial on the pages we read | Card into Stripe, two minutes. Nothing charged for 14 days |
| Who is a seat | Their pricing FAQ says a specialist assesses "variables like the number of workers". As many forms as you need, with no limit on signatures | Account holders only: 2, 6 or 15. The crew who sign are never a seat |
| Set-up | Forms you design, a workflow studio, automations and integrations | Pick a topic and send the link |
| Where the talks come from | Forms and toolbox talks you set up, scheduled to repeat. No library and no Spanish on the pages we read | A library written for the trades, English and Spanish side by side, plus your own on Company |
| Proving a record wasn't edited | Not described on the pages we read | Sealed when filed. Anyone can check the code, no account |
| Insurance | SafeTrades: a renewal report built from your SiteDocs data, and a readiness score, for your broker to take to carriers | The sealed insurance packet, for your own broker to read. No score |
| Built for | Safety directors, risk managers and operations leaders, from startups to multinationals | Small contractors, and the GCs who ask them for paperwork |
Why small is the point.
SiteDocs serves companies up to the multinational, with Lafarge among the names on its home page. We're a small startup in Kennewick, built for one size. Here's what that buys you.
You're running by Monday, not next quarter
There's no template to design and no forms to migrate. Pick a topic, send a link, and the first talk is signed and filed in five minutes.
The price is the price
$29, $89 or $199 a month for the company, on the page. Nobody on the crew is ever a seat, so the bill does not grow when the crew does.
Every record is sealed when it is filed
A talk, a JSA, an inspection or an incident gets a code when it closes. Anyone can check the code, with no account, and see that nothing was changed.
Your email reaches the people who wrote the code
There's no queue, and the reply usually comes the same day.
When SiteDocs is the better buy.
They're ahead of us in real ways. If any of these is you, go and talk to them.
You have a safety director
Someone whose job is the program, not the trade. SiteDocs gives that person a workflow studio, automations, analytics and a safety monitor. Tailboard gives an owner-operator a record that is done by Monday.
You manage many subs
Contractor management, orientations and certifications across the companies on your site. Our GC side reads one sub's packet at a time.
You want the forms built your way
Any form, any field, any flow. Ours are the ones the standard asks for, with your own talks on Company and your own checklists on Fleet.
You want the insurance story built in
SafeTrades turns SiteDocs data into a renewal report and a readiness score. We give your broker the sealed packet and leave the scoring to the carrier.
And the obvious one.
SiteDocs is part of Nemetschek, a software group many times our size, and carries Capterra and G2 badges from 2025 and 2026. We launched in September 2026. If you need certainty your safety software will still exist in five years, that's a real argument for them.
So we made sure you're never trapped
On Company and Fleet, every sealed record is emailed to whoever can read records the moment it is filed, so the proof lives in your inbox, not only on our servers. The seal code stays checkable by anyone, with no account. Cancel and you keep read access for 90 days.
And you can test it before you commit
Run a real meeting with a real crew in the first fourteen days (thirty on a yearly plan), then decide. You'll know inside a week whether it fits how you work.
Read a full talk before you decide.
One of ours is on the home page, with nothing held back.
