Tailboard is new. Rather than dress that up, here is where it stands and who is accountable for it. It started as toolbox talks and is now the safety system a five-man crew can actually run, built by a small startup in Kennewick, Washington, by people who grew up around one.
Brian is the founder of Tailboard. He grew up in eastern Washington around his family's hydro-excavation business and has spent his career in hospitality and in aviation safety - a field where the written record is part of the job rather than something you catch up on later.
The gap he kept seeing was on the office side. A small business keeps and files everything it is supposed to, and still struggles to put its hands on the right sheet the day someone asks for it. He founded Tailboard in 2026 to fix that end of it: less filing for the office, and a record a contractor can hand over and stand behind.

It is not a venture-backed company, and it is not a reseller. It operates out of Kennewick, Washington, and is reachable at support@tailboardsafety.com. Emails are answered by the people who build it, usually the same day.
Early, and honest about it
No G2 page, no Capterra listing, no press yet. Tailboard launched in 2026 and nobody has reviewed it anywhere we did not write ourselves. Rather than a badge strip, here is what you can check without taking our word: verify a record with a seal code, read the terms and privacy policy in plain words, and email the founder. When a listing or a review exists, it goes on the homepage.
We're not going to claim a customer count we don't have. If you sign up now, you are an early customer, you will get the people who wrote the code on the other end of an email, and the roadmap will bend toward what you actually ask for.
Check the product, not our word for it
Every sealed record carries a code that anyone can verify at tailboardsafety.com/verify without an account. Read a full topic before you pay, and read the terms and the privacy policy - both say plainly what this is and isn't.
Nothing locked in
Monthly or yearly, with no contract either way, and you can cancel from your own dashboard without emailing anyone. Your records export as PDF whenever you like, including before you leave. We'd rather you kept your own copy.
What Tailboard does not claim.
The limits are worth stating plainly, because a safety product that oversells itself is worse than no product.
It is not a safety program
Tailboard delivers general safety education based on published OSHA standards. It is not a site-specific safety plan, and it does not replace hazard assessment by a competent person on your job.
It is not legal advice
Nothing here tells you whether you meet a particular regulation. It records that a talk happened, who was there, and when - which is the part contractors usually can't produce.
Sealed is not the same as notarized
A sealed record proves the file hasn't changed since it was closed. It doesn't prove the people signing were who they said they were. We say "sealed and verifiable", never "impossible to alter".
You should keep your own copy
The seal code is emailed to you when it's created, so the thing that proves a record is intact sits in your inbox, outside anything we control. That's deliberate.
A JSA certification is a record, not a verdict
A filed JSA says the hazards were assessed and the PPE chosen, by whom and when, and cites your state's rule. That is what Washington's certification asks for. It is not a statement that the assessment was right - that is still your competent person's call.
