Tailboard vs SALUS.
SALUS runs a whole safety program, and their toolbox talk is genuinely clever. Tailboard does one job and finishes it. The question isn't which is better - it's whether you have a safety program to run.
Different sizes of tool.
These are SALUS's modules, from their own platform menu. Toolbox talks is one of them. For us it's the whole product.
Side by side
SALUS's column comes from their own public pages. There is no price, because they don't publish one.
| SALUS | Tailboard | |
|---|---|---|
| What it costs | Quote only | $29, $89 or $199, on the page |
| How you start | A specialist calls you back | Card into Stripe, two minutes |
| Set-up | They configure your forms and processes | Pick a topic and send the link |
| Proving a record wasn't edited | Not described publicly | Sealed when filed. Anyone can check the code, no account |
| Signing | QR scan, checked against the site list | Any phone, nothing to install |
| Where the talks come from | Rosie writes one from your live site data | A fixed library, plus your own on Company and Fleet |
| Everything else in safety | Permits, incidents, inspections, SDS, equipment | Inspections and equipment, on Fleet. No permits, SDS or incident module |
Why small is the point.
SALUS has around 70 staff, $10M raised, and 14,000 companies on the platform. We're a small startup in Kennewick. Here's what that buys you.
You're running by Monday, not next quarter
There's no configuration project, no forms to migrate, and no specialist to book. Pick a topic, send a link, and you're done in five minutes.
You can see the price before you talk to anyone
It's $29 to $199 a month, on the page - most start on Company at $89. Nobody calls you back to scope it.
Your email reaches the people who wrote the code
There's no queue, and the reply usually comes the same day.
Your crew never lands on the bill
Fifteen people on site can run on two accounts. Everyone who only signs is free.
When SALUS is the better buy.
They're ahead of us in real ways. If any of these is you, go and talk to them.
You want the talk written for today's site
Their AI drafts one from yesterday's findings, the weather, and the high-risk tasks on the schedule. Ours is a library. Theirs is better at being specific.
You need the whole safety program
That means permits, incidents, inspections, corrective actions and SDS. If a concern raised in a talk should become a tracked action, they do that and we don't; on Fleet a failed inspection line becomes an open repair, and that is as far as we go.
You have a safety director
Someone whose job is safety will use the depth properly. We're for outfits where the owner does it between other work.
You want verified attendance
Their QR sign-in checks against the site list. Ours records who signed, not who was on site today.
And the obvious one.
SALUS has been going since 2018, is rated 4.7 on G2, and says it protects 140,000 workers a day. We launched in September 2026. If you need certainty your safety software will still exist in five years, that's a real argument for them.
So we made sure you're never trapped
On Company and Fleet, every sealed record is emailed to whoever can read records the moment it is filed, so the proof lives in your inbox, not only on our servers. The seal code stays checkable by anyone, with no account. Cancel and you keep read access for 90 days.
And you can test it before you commit
Run a real meeting with a real crew in the first fourteen days (thirty on a yearly plan), then decide. You'll know inside a week whether it fits how you work.
Read a full talk before you decide.
One of ours is on the home page, with nothing held back.
